My path in life took a while to figure out
1.
Losing my grandfather during high school derailed my life and led me to navigate grief and responsibility at a young age.
2.
After getting expelled from multiple schools, I ended up in prison, where I earned my GED and began turning my life around.
3.
A letter from Lincoln University accepted me, and with a judge’s support, my sentence was reduced, giving me a second chance.
4.
At Lincoln University, I majored in history, Black studies, and education, joined Kappa Alpha Psi, and found purpose in community.
5.
My path to education began with Baltimore City Public Schools, where I transitioned from teacher to principal by age 24.
6.
Witnessing the gaps in student support inspired me to start Concentric, focusing on placing students at the heart of education.
7.
Home visits became Concentric’s cornerstone, ensuring every student and family felt supported beyond the classroom.
Defining Moments
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I was raised by my grandparents. My grandfather suddenly passed away from a massive heart attack when I was in high school. The loss completely shook my world and derailed my life.
I felt completely lost after my grandfather passed away. I started going down the wrong path, stopped going to school, started robbing, got expelled from schools, and ultimately ended up in prison.
