Advice for getting started
I didn't go through the typical journey that society paints as successful. My family didn't have much, so I put myself through college. It took me much longer to finish college while working and raising my son. However, I did succeed in pushing us through. I think we need to get rid of that typical time clock and success narrative that we've created as a society. Everybody comes from different walks of life.
Here's the path I took:
High School
Bachelor's Degree
Accounting and Finance
University of Phoenix
Certification
Accountancy
University of Houston

Messages from Society in general:
There's one standard path to success. You need to complete things—college, career, etc.—in a certain amount of time.

Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I had my son while I was in college. As a single mother, I raised my son, educated myself, built my career, and pushed us through the difficult times. Being a single mom helped me have more empathy and become a better leader.
