Life & Career Milestones

My path in life took a while to figure out

  • 1.

First I moved to San Francisco.

  • 2.

Then I worked for non-profit causes I believed in, usually not for money.

  • 3.

Then I started doing layout and design work for those non-profits because I was good at it.

  • 4.

Then I got an entry level position at a very small publishing company where a friend worked.

  • 5.

Then I took advantage of any opportunity there was to learn more and do more.

  • 6.

Then I stayed as that company grew from a small publisher of 18 people...

  • 7.

...Into a mid-size publisher with nearly 160 employees that is admired the world over.

Defining Moments

How I responded to discouragement

  • THE NOISE

    Messages from Myself:

    Publishing doesn't pay.

  • How I responded:

Most jobs will never pay enough. And if you dedicate yourself to a craft, you will become able to earn more and more money at it as your expertise grows.
