Defining Moments

How I responded to discouragement

  • THE NOISE

    Messages from Family:

There are no jobs in counseling. Counseling isn't a stable career.

  • How I responded:

People unfamiliar with what counselors and advisors actually do may not understand the value it brings to others. Being a counselor and advisor is extremely rewarding and crucial. Everyone needs someone to talk to, to seek advice from and to have as a support system. Navigating education and career can be hard and scary for many people but as an advisor, you have the opportunity to support them in their journey and offer them guidance and resources for they future successes.
