Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Myself:
I actually never listened to the discouragement that society threw at me because not many people know what anthropology is or what an anthropologist does. In fact, most people would envy it or enjoy hearing about what an anthropologist does!
How I responded:
Where is the discouragement coming from? If it's what you think you're supposed to be doing because somebody else discouraged you, you have to tell yourself what do you want to do? Does it feel like a good fit? The good news is that you don't have to decide right now. You can go forward with your major—and if you change your mind during graduate school, change it! Follow your heart!
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
Though it's not a hurdle and rather something for me to navigate around, I've had challenges with my vision, making it difficult to see and read print, so I need advanced technology to resolve it.
