As dean of the University of Florida College of Nursing and chief nurse executive at UF Health, my days are a blend of strategic leadership in education, research, and patient care. From early mornings managing teams to overseeing pivotal research projects, I champion initiatives that enhance both care quality and workforce diversity. Balancing administrative duties with fostering compassionate care, I ensure that every decision supports patients and reflects our community’s diversity.

I spend 60-70% of my time preparing to teach: putting together lesson plans, reading, researching, grading papers, etc. Another 5-10% is spent in meetings with colleagues, and then the final 20% of my time is actually spent in the classroom with my students.
